Abstract

This research report presents worldwide mobile phone shipment volume forecast and recent quarter review of major mobile phone vendor performance. The report includes major vendors' shipment volume, shipment growth trends, shipment revenue and revenue growth trends, operating profit margin and ASP, along with analyst insights. The report finds that worldwide mobile phone shipment volume picked up in the second quarter of 2010, following a sharp fall in shipment volume in the first quarter. Of the top five brands, LG enjoyed the highest quarter-on-quarter growth in shipment volume in the second quarter but the company still suffered the loss in operating profits regardless, the first time since the third quarter of 2006. In the third quarter of 2010, worldwide mobile phone shipment volume is expected to have grown steadily, enjoying both sequential and year-on-year growth in shipment volume. It is anticipated that the growth momentum will continue into the fourth quarter of 2010, thanks to the wide variety of Smartphone models available in the market by year-end 2010.
